Smirnoff Sydney Nightlife Exchange Project Swap

The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project is back and is tipped to be bigger and better than 2010!

I really like Smirnoff. Not because they’re a globally ginormous company that rake in the big bucks from making my favourite spirit. Rather, they use their substantial revenue to do pretty cool things for the community such as hosting the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project - aimed to help 10 million people discover, share and swap unique nightlife.

The international event debuted last year and proved to be quite a hit, but this year the party is tipped to be even bigger with a whopping 50 countries involved. In a nutshell, each nation will simultaneously share the best of their local nightlife with their swapping country for one night this November 12 to create the world’s largest, one-of-a-kind global nightlife experience.

I was one of the lucky few Sydney media cats invited to the Australian announcement swap on Thursday and am absolutely over the moon that we’re teamed up with ITALY!!!! Yes, Italy. Vespas, meatballs, coffee, pasta and loud, warm woggy culture. Being of Mediterranean descent (Maltese), I hope I do not miss this Sydney event because we know how to throw a party complete with yummy food and mega beats.

Italy’s Junior Jack & Kid Créme and Alex Gaudino will headline the Italian-inspired Aussie event, while we send Nervo and Bang Gang Deejay’s over to Italy to set the stage ablaze as the Italians receive the best of Australia’s home-grown nightlife, as voted by Australians.

Meanwhile, if you want a taste of Italy, then whip up the Nonna Smith cocktail. I was lucky to get behind the bar and exclusively mix one with mixologist Max Grecco of world-renowned Sydney bar Eau De Vie. He is lovely and especially created this drink for the event.

Nonna Smith

- 30ml Smirnoff 21 Vodka
- 1 pressed Granny Smith apple
- 30ml pear puree
- 20ml lemon juice
- 10ml sugar syrup

Add ingredients to a Boston Shaker filled with cubed ice. Shake and strain into a short glass. Garnish with apple slices.

PS: And did I mention Pharrell ‘P Willy’ Williams (who has only been my Neptunes/N*E*R*D hero since ’97) recently teamed up with Smirnoff!? Watch him talk here.

Lovin it! These places always seem to go down well. Wish it was more easy for the public to get in though!

Sounds like Smirnoff are planning the “party of the year” on Saturday November 12! It will definitely be a night to remember – with a smorgasboard of tastetreat goodies.
Now – how to get an invite!!
