Sound-clouding
Last month, I was on a mission to track down some pretty phat tunes to complement my b-roll footage for a video I was making.
So when a day of sifting through a plethora of Myspace music pages failed me, I resorted to the amazing SoundCloud.
I was suitably impressed with what I was hearing on this online audio distribution platform. I’m talking about beat-loving, producing cats from around the world emitting the kind of talent record labels ought to sign up!
Here’s a small cross-section of gems I discovered. If you guys have come across any more artists on Sound Cloud who are worth a listen, feel free to share your findings.

K-12
23-year-old Toulousain producer K-12 (AKA: Philippe ‘Philou’ Roux) brings funky French electro to the table. It’s dirty and gritty. It’s grindy in all the right places I love, featuring all the hot teasy wind-ups and breaks which a dance floor desperately craves. Epic fidget styling right there! This youngster could open a set for Crookers, Drop the Lime or The Bloody Beetroots any day. Excuse the French… but what a fucking find, huh? Check it.
Liquid Sound
What can I say? Serbian native Liquid Sound (AKA: Bane Dobesh) has got progression going on. I’m not very big on trance per se, but his thumping Tiësto-like bass is just too alluring. He truly has a knack for creating tight, progressive psytrance beats that hold your complete attention throughout the track’s entire duration – taking you on an audible journey abounding with twists, turns and bends fo shiz! Hands down, this progressive sound is right up my alley and makes me wish I were at a European rave now.

Mesan
Sammy T and George Conomos are the mixing-duo patrolling Sydney’s nightlife district under the joint DJ name of Mesan. They offer a deep, sweet, melodious house style that takes both individual listeners and crowds on a progressive journey through tech and funk for the ultimate chilled-out clubbing experience. What’s a music post without including some Sydney royalty? Yew!

Groove Delight
Kathelyn Fernandes of São Paulo is more than capable of adding a touch of feminine Brazilian flavour to her mixes. She delves into electro, tech and deep house genres as well as dub-step. And if she’s not remixing some joint, she’ll create original mixes. Refúgio sets the perfect mood for time lapse footage once the minimal harmonic beat kicks in. It reminds me of moving in slow motion when everything speeds past in flashing spurs of lights. More happier is Alerta 19. If you dig Anoraak’s Waiting for Your Phone Call intro, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this acidic number. Noice!
