Backstage with Guy Sebastian
Last month I caught up for a backstage chat with Australia’s finest vocals, Mr Guy Sebastian.
He’s a pretty cool cat - so the video maker in me wanted to mix a fun, sexy, casually-sophisticated video for Guy’s fans that’s far from your typical, everyday interview offering repeated information which people already know.
In this two-part video series, Guy shared what he’s been up to of late, including: collaborating with Jordin Sparks, making the move to LA, sharing his latest gadgets, flaunting those muscles, giving us a heads up on X Factor judging and revealing the truth about a Gospel album.
I’ve interviewed Guy for written features in the past, but nothing beats a video capturing his amazing voice and larrikin ways. For me I’d say overall that Guy’s the equivalent of interviewing fashion guru Alex Perry; funny and polite with a warm energy. One thing I relate to and admire is his work ethic and drive. He’s anything but stagnant and meets timely deadlines, even if it means being sleep deprived.
Things got pretty exclusive when Guy sang his Pilot Pens’ competition winning No More acoustic for the first time ever! I couldn’t help playing it to him, since many have wanted to hear his soft like honey vocals croon the glory that is this track. I know I have since I was sixteen.
Anyway, here are the videos. Please watch them in HD, as Youtube really washes out the quality. Oh, and apologies about the audio in Chris Sebastian’s segment and Guy’s gadgets. Silly me didn’t take my mic along.
